Just a reminder that our current window for submissions closes this coming Monday, 31st March. We are currently looking for both full-length (up to 5000 words) and flash (1250 words) non-fiction, on any subject, and pay for everything we publish. Submissions are accepted via Submittable only.
What are we looking for?
We warmly embrace writing on any topic, or from any genre, we ask only that it falls somewhere in the realm of non-fiction writing.
All work should be new, previously unpublished material. If your work is subsequently accepted elsewhere, please kindly let us know.
We accept anything from 250-5000 words. We also accept extracts from longer works, or works in progress, but they must work as self-contained pieces.
We charge a small readers' fee of £3 for all submissions, redeemable as a discount against the price of subscription. Subscribers can submit their work to us for free, all year round.
So please send us your best work and we will endeavour to find a place for it.
To get an idea of the sorts of things we typically publish, check out one of our recent issues.
Strictly speaking we prefer work that hasn't been published in any form, but if you included something from Substack as part of a longer piece, or in a substantially reworked form, I think that would be OK. The reason we ask this is so that our readers can be assured that everything in the issue is new to them.
Can you submit work that has been posted on Substack?
